Alfonso Caputo, was born on December the 2,1970 in Piano di Sorrento (NA) Italy and he lives in Marina del Cantone a fishing village between Capri, Sorrento and Positano.
At 18, he obtained a diploma in accounting, but his passion is fishing and cooking. He decides in consultation with the family to engage in a variety of experiences in Italy and abroad before taking command of the restaurant.
His professional career began as an Apprentice Chef in 1988. In 1994, he went back to his family restaurant Taverna del Capitano. He then became a member of the “Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe”. In its research and proposals, the cuisine of the Alfonso Caputo consistently seeks to intersect tradition with innovation in a continual celebration of the local produce of sea and land. Drawing upon its immediate locality, Alfonso Caputo’s cooking proposes an ongoing research of forms, flavours and colours in which inherited traditions reverberate with future ideas and creativity. Alfonso frees his culinary creations from their archaic order in a labour of rediscovery and reinterpretation.
